Licensing and Setup
After installation, you need to request and apply a license key before you can use Precision Bridge 10. The licensing process is the same for both the Windows native build and the Docker build.
Launching the Application
How you start the application depends on which build you installed:
- Windows Native Build — Open Precision Bridge from the Start menu. The application launches into a desktop window automatically.
- Docker Build on Windows — Open PB Manager from the Start menu. PB Manager is a small wrapper that controls the local container service. Click Start to bring the service up; the app opens in your default web browser after a few seconds.
-
Docker Build on macOS / Linux — Make sure the service is running (
pb startif you used the one-line installer), then openhttp://localhost:7502in your browser. The port may differ if you installed with--port.
Requesting a License
When you first launch Precision Bridge, you are presented with a license request form. Complete it as follows:
- Fill in Full Name, Email, Company, and Project Name.
- Leave License Type set to Trial. Trial licenses include unrestricted access to all data sources and targets, so no further fields are required.
- Click Generate Request. A dialog opens with the request body in Encoded format (the recommended default).
- Click Copy Encoded Request to copy the request to your clipboard. If your mail filter strips long encoded strings, switch to the Plain Text tab and copy that instead.
Subscription requests follow the same form but require selecting the specific source and target connections that the license should permit. Subscription requests are typically raised against an existing purchase order — confirm the entitlement with your sales contact before submitting.
Submitting Your Request
Send the copied license request to help@precisionbridge.net. The team processes the request and sends a license key by reply.
Applying the License
Once you receive your license key, paste it into the license input field in the application and click Activate. The application is then ready to use.
Next Steps
With your license activated, return to the Tutorial for the post-install steps (creating connections, projects, and your first migration), or jump straight to Creating Connections.
